The Music Association of Thannhausen - widely renowned for its brass orchestra - and the new School of Music required a new rehearsal auditorium, with the conversion of the existing home for musicians into a music school. The tight budget and exacting acoustic requirements led to a solution in which the copper-clad envelope of the building both acts as a load-bearing structure and performs the necessary acoustic functions. The building is an idiosyncratic addition to its provincial surroundings.
