The Otto-von-Guericke University in Magdeburg is striving to distinguish itself as a scientific centre and wants to offer young researchers better access to industry. The Experimental Factory is the newest and so far the most spectacular addition to the restructured campus – a “foreign body” inserted into an otherwise unprepossessing scene. A curving layer of aluminium sheets ties the different volumes together. Depending on the point of view, either the three colours (orange, pink and silver) or the glazed dot-printed surfaces come to the foreground; the "skin" starts to move.
