The new prayer room stands in deliberate contrast to the august introversion of old churches, with plentiful natural light and an open atmosphere. The extension is docked pragmatically onto the eastern side of the existing church centre via a low link of reinforced concrete. The exterior walls consist of ribbed glass, which is mainly used for natural lighting in industrial buildings, creating a semi-transparent façade. The building fulfils the function of a protective enclosure; however, it also makes perception of the exterior environment possible without distracting from events taking place inside. Despite its simple technical character, the translucent building has a sublime presence.
