Construction on this site in a development zone near Moers was governed by a master plan with wide-ranging design requirements. The design aimed to exploit the boundaries of the site fully. This was best achieved with a building reminiscent of Goethe's garden house in Weimar, with creepers covering walls and a hipped roof. On the surface merely romantic, the form has been de-familiarised by a platonic game of cutting, shifting and scaling down. The courtyard so created is actually the centre of this introverted house, whose façades seem to have reversed their roles.
