The school building and sports hall are part of a new town district without a centre, which is being built on the site of the former barracks not far from the Town House by Jürgen Mayer H.. A long block picks up the structure of the surrounding townscape. The complex is screened off from nearby tram lines by the sports hall, which is partly built into sloping ground. By dealing in a conscious manner, enriched with reminiscences, with the sensual (material and its comprehensible use in architecture) and the metaphysical (the fixing and dissolving of memory), a sense of identity is created that surpasses the usual references – in a place that has yet to find itself.
