The new regional headquarters of the employer's association Südwestmetall was built in a turn-of the-century residential area in Reutlingen. The scheme addresses both the conditions of the site in terms of urban development and the client's desire for a representative design. Although the new buildings blend in with regard to eaves height, roof shape, width of the façades and gable walls they create an overall effect of an integral agglomeration without scale. The unreal perfection of the surface combines a certain irony and a reflection of contemporary cultural phenomena.
